More and more patients are having both eyes
operated on at the same time. Evidence is
emerging that this is a very safe option
for those patients who wish to get their
surgery completed expeditiously. The theoretic
risk of a catastrophic complication in each
eye is offset by the reduced risk of a single
admission to hospital which halves the risk
of a hospital-acquired infection. Whether
you have your surgery sequentially or simultaneously
the level of risk is the same. In either
case the level of risk is extremely low.
