During the surgery of cataract removal, the following instruments and machine make it all possible. Below there is an image and brief description of what the instrument does.

Eye Measurer
The device used to measure the length of the patient’s eye uses ten million sound waves a second. The sound waves travel at 3500 miles per hour.

The Microscope
The microscope used during the operation is manufactured by Zeiss.

Zeiss is the foremost manufacturer of optical equipment in the world.

The Phakoemulsify
The machine used to break up the cataract (phakoemulsify) is controlled by a microprocessor. The vacuum levels and energy used are kept with very stringent limits.
Phaco Tip
The tip of the probe used to break up the cataract vibrates to and fro at 40,000 times a second. At the end of each stroke it experiences a G force of 250,000 and in that instant weighs several tonnes. It is made of titanium because steel would disintegrate under such conditions. It is thrown away after each case.
