| Mr
Bolger was one of the first to introduce modern
cataract surgery to the UK. To date he has
completed over 17,000 cataract operations
and many of his patients are optometrists
or ophthalmologists. He has published articles
on cataract surgery and contributed to several
books on the topic. He pioneered cataract
surgery in the community as well as ambulatory
cataract surgery. He has developed specialised
instrumentation used in cataract surgery.
Many current NHS consultants studied cataract
surgery under his tutelage. |
